 Migration Hub Heidelberg

Migration Hub Heidelberg is a network in the Rhein-Neckar region that works on all layers of society in order to understand migration as a lived reality. Our work aims to promote the international spirit, local civic engagement and the empowerment of BIPoC and people with migration history. This goal guides our work for migrants and their initiatives, as well as for our local stakeholders, who are active in the field of migration and anti-discrimination. We give space for their initiatives, visions, and perspectives with need-based individual aid, networking, and the provision of physical spaces.

In our pursue for a liberated society, we at Migration Hub Heidelberg are also providing formats advancing diversity, inclusion, and equity. We offer organizational and institutional coaching,  content analysis, and critical consciousness raising through workshops, lectures, exhibitions, resources, as well as cultural and political education.

OUR CORE VALUES

Community

Moments of active rest, spaces to practice wellness and mutual care, are central to changing the conditions of our state and being. We want to build a braver community aware of discrimination and enhance community care.

Collaboration

We believe sustainable work is only successful in cooperation. There is no singular path to liberation. This is why Migration Hub is at its core a network. We foster pluralism and interdependency through the exchange of knowledge, resources, and ideas.

Empowerment

We believe that those most impacted by the systems of harm should be at the centre of envisioning liberation, healing, and change. We are led by Women, Trans and BIPOC leadership. Accomplices support the implementation of those visions.

Sustainability

We believe change is a long term commitment. The roots of our work were laid before us, are nourished by us, and will be carried on after us. We understand our work in the context of this lineage, and belief in the necessity of both short and long term projects.

Intersectionality

We approach our mission from an intersectional framework. Meaning, that we understand all systems of oppression, such as racism, sexism, ableism, queerphobia, classism, etc. to be interconnected, and must be tackled as such. These lived realities inform our work.

FUN

Social justice and activism is hard work. We believe that liberation should be pleasurable. Therefore, we seek to offer a place of appreciation, where there can be joy in liberation, where love, care, and fun can be shared and felt.

Education

We aim to unlearn oppressive beliefs and seek to regain our strength, joy, and power. Through knowledge and wisdom sharing we support our network, our community and us to overthrow harmful systems and beliefs.

Access

We believe that liberation and justice should be accessible for all to shape and take part in. Therefore, we work towards practical change. We want to acknowledge our collective brilliance and progresses towards a more inclusive space.
